DRC : Tenke Fungurume launches the country’s first photovoltaic plant

Fungurume will soon be powered by a photovoltaic plant installed by Kipay Energy.

Fungurume will soon be powered by a photovoltaic plant installed by Kipay Energy.  Producing a “capacity of 2.4 peak in solar and 1.8 in storage” according to the management of Kipay Energy, the 7-hectare park will host an installation of 56 solar panels that will capture light via a rotating system that will move according to the location of the sun. The electricity produced by the plant and fed into the national electricity company’s grid will also benefit the population. “The capacity, for now, is 2.4 peak in solar plus 1.8 in storage. By injecting the electricity into the SNEL network, we are mainly affecting the population of Fungurume,” explains Eric Monga, general manager of Kipay Energy.
