JEAN-MICHEL SAMA LUKONDE, PRIME MINISTER OF THE DRC TO ATTEND THE MINING INDABA 2024 CONFERENCE

“With untapped deposits of cobalt, copper, diamonds, gold and other minerals estimated at $24,000 billion, the DRC undeniably occupies a leading position in Africa’s mining industry.”

Investing in African Mining Indaba has just announced that the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, will attend Mining Indaba 2024, where he will deliver a keynote address on Monday February 5 at the official opening ceremony.

Prime Minister Sama Lukonde, one of the world’s largest producers of green metals, is expected to highlight key investment opportunities in the DRC’s mining sector at Mining Indaba. Attendees can also expect to hear the latest on the partnership between the DRC and Zambia to facilitate the development of lithium batteries. This partnership should enable the manufacture of batteries for electric cars, seen as a key step in the fight against poverty between the two countries.

With unexploited deposits of cobalt, copper, diamonds, gold and other minerals estimated at $24,000 billion, the DRC is undeniably at the forefront of Africa’s mining industry. The country is home to what is set to become the continent’s green energy transition center, thanks to the minerals extracted and the downstream beneficiation work underway.

As Investing in African Mining Indaba celebrates its 30th anniversary, the strong presence of mineral-rich African countries testifies to the growth opportunities that the African continent offers the mining sector.
