DRC-US: suspension of lobbying contracts with US firms

As part of its mining cooperation with the United States, the DRC has just announced the suspension of all its lobbying contracts with American firms.

In a statement consulted by M&B, President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi expressed his satisfaction with “the solid and lasting relations between the DRC and the United States of America”, hailing a partnership “based on cooperation and friendship”.
The Office of the Head of State states that the DRC wants to strengthen “strategic partnerships through direct dialogue with the new American administration, exclusively through official and authorised channels”.

With this in mind, the Congolese government has decided to suspend immediately, until further notice, all lobbying contracts concluded with American entities, firms or practices specialising in this field. This includes the current contract with Earhart Turner LLC.

The Head of State’s spokeswoman, Tina Salama, explained that this decision was aimed at refocusing exchanges on a formal diplomatic framework, in the interests of transparency and efficiency.
