Taxation: ultimatum sent to 11,000 businesses to regularise their situation before 5 May

The Ministry of Finance has issued an ultimatum to 11,717 economic operators, requiring them to regularise their tax situation “before 5 May”, or face severe penalties.

In a press release sent to Radio Okapi on Sunday, the Ministry sets out the coercive measures it intends to take against recalcitrant traders. These include the freezing of bank assets, legal proceedings and the termination of subcontracts.

The Inspection Générale de Finances (IGF) had identified these companies, which had previously been classified as “unaddressed” or “inactive”, even though they were in fact carrying on an economic activity.

The tax authorities are reminding all operators of their obligation to “check the tax compliance” of their partners before any collaboration, in accordance with the law.
