Interview with François KABAMBA

Our objective is to become the leader in the region, and this is the mission of my successor. I remain convinced that we will succeed because we have a well-trained team, offers and business solutions tailored to the needs of customers and above all an impeccable network quality on the Internet and voice

François KABAMBA, Regional Director of Orange DRC, is leaving the Grand Katanga region.

What is your assessment?

I arrived in Katanga in January 2021, finding the situation impeccable after the departure of my predecessor Paulin Mukenge. We were in 3rd position in terms of market share after Airtel and Vodacom. Two years later, we have achieved strong growth. This positions us since the first half of 2021 at the 2nd place in market share after Airtel. My replacement, Becker Kabengele, is aiming for the top spot and I am convinced that he will achieve this with the team.

Who is your successor?

Becker Kabengele comes from Kongo Central. So it’s a change.

What is the ambition of Orange in Greater Katanga?

Our objective is to become the leader in the region, and this is the mission of my successor. I remain convinced that we will succeed because we have a well-trained team, offers and business solutions tailored to the needs of customers and above all an impeccable network quality on the Internet and voice. And in a few days, after a successful launch in Kinshasa, we will launch the fiber in homes and offices to offer our customers a very high speed. For businesses like yours, this will be the answer to your concern: how to download very large files.

Any last words before you leave?

I would like to address our subscribers. There was a time when they felt they were paying too much because they didn’t know about Orange’s voice packages. We have communicated a lot and today, they know how to activate our voice package “Koza mix”. For example, for 100 units, they get 16 minutes of calls to all networks, 100 SMS and 100 megabytes to use for 3 days. It is because they listened to us that they allowed us to get to where we are now. Thanks also to my great team and to our CEO, who continues to trust me.
