DRC Mining Week 2026 Closes with a Call to Turn Ambitions into Action
After three days of exchanges, business meetings and strategic reflection in Lubumbashi, the 21st edition of DRC Mining Week closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, with a strong message: the future of the Congolese mining industry now depends on the ability of stakeholders to turn the commitments made into concrete projects.
Chaired by Kasongo Bin Nassor, President of the Chamber of Mines of the Federation of Enterprises of Congo (FEC), and by Jean de Dieu Mulenda Ebondo, Provincial Minister of Budget of Haut-Katanga, representing the Acting Governor, the closing ceremony provided an opportunity to take stock of an edition marked by strong mobilization from both public and private actors in the mining sector.
A Pivotal Stage for the Congolese Mining Industry
In his speech, Kasongo Bin Nassor emphasized that DRC Mining Week 2026 is not an end in itself, but a pivotal stage in building the mining industry of tomorrow. According to him, the discussions held during these meetings helped lay the foundations for an in-depth reflection on issues related to governance, energy, infrastructure and the local processing of minerals.
The President of the Chamber of Mines praised the contribution of all partners, exhibitors, institutions and participants who worked toward the success of this 21st edition. He recalled that the DRC’s mineral wealth will only fully produce its effects if it is accompanied by an environment favorable to investment, appropriate training for young people and a collective willingness to act.
Strengthening Dialogue to Improve the Business Climate
The Chamber of Mines of the FEC reaffirmed its commitment to promoting permanent dialogue between the private sector and public authorities in order to contribute to the improvement of the business climate in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
For Kasongo Bin Nassor, the recommendations made during DRC Mining Week must now lead to concrete reforms. “The world looks at the DRC for its minerals; tomorrow, it will look at its ability to transform its resources,” he stressed.
Participation Welcomed by the Authorities
Speaking on behalf of the Acting Governor of Haut-Katanga, Provincial Minister of Budget Jean de Dieu Mulenda Ebondo praised the intensity of the exchanges that characterized this edition, as well as the significant attendance observed at the exhibition stands.
He recalled that DRC Mining Week has now become a true crossroads for meetings between the various actors of the mining ecosystem and a catalyst for the development of the extractive industry in the DRC. He also congratulated Vuka Group for the successful organization of this 21st edition.
As participants leave Lubumbashi, the challenge now remains to translate the promises and recommendations made during these three days into concrete actions capable of strengthening the mining sector’s contribution to the sustainable development of the DRC.
