According to the document signed by Minister Patrick Muyaya, government spokesman, these limited movements reflect relative stability in the domestic economic situation. The gap between the two quotations nevertheless remains around 73 CDF to one dollar.
Weekly inflation and medium-term target
Invited to the Council of Ministers, the governor of the Central Bank of Congo, André Wameso, presented the situation of the foreign exchange, goods and services markets. He indicated that price growth continued to slow during the third week of September 2026, a movement underway since the end of March.
Year-on-year, the inflation rate stands at 3.3%, against 7.8% a year earlier, a level below the medium-term target set at 7%. Over one week, national inflation stood at 0.11%, after 0.14% the previous week.
Recommendations and basic commodities
The BCC governor also reported a generally favorable performance of world prices for the main basic commodities during the period under review. He made several recommendations taking into account external and internal risks: continued monitoring of the prices of goods and services among economic operators, close monitoring of factors likely to disrupt markets, diversification of energy supply sources and reduction of vulnerability to commodity shocks through diversification of the productive fabric.
For a Congolese economy backed by mining exports, exchange rate stability and price deceleration are benchmarks closely watched by operators, in a context where public revenue and import costs remain sensitive to fluctuations in international prices.
