DRC: Monday, May 18, 2026 Declared a Public Holiday, Non-Working and Paid

In an official statement published this Wednesday, the Ministry of Employment and Labor provided important clarifications regarding the celebration of the “Day of the Revolution and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo.”

In accordance with Ordinance No. 23/042 of March 30, 2023, May 17 is recognized as a legal public holiday throughout the national territory. However, this year, the commemoration falls on a Sunday.

In application of the legislation in force, Minister Ferdinand Massamba Wa Massamba announced that the non-working and paid holiday has officially been postponed to Monday, May 18, 2026.

This decision allows workers and all citizens to benefit from the legal rest associated with this national celebration, which pays tribute to the sacrifice of the country’s armed forces. The statement also calls on employers and workers to take all necessary measures.
