Kinshasa: Train to N’djili Airport Soon to Resume After 15 Years of Suspension
After nearly fifteen years of inactivity, the railway line connecting Kinshasa Central Station to N’djili International Airport is set to resume service. On June 30, President Félix Tshisekedi made the inaugural journey, marking an important step in the revival of urban rail transport.
This rehabilitation aims to ease traffic flow in a capital city facing major congestion, while offering a more accessible transport alternative at a stable fare. The project also provides for the recovery of railway rights-of-way that have been illegally occupied.
According to the authorities, daily traffic could resume in the coming weeks, with travel time reduced to 20 to 30 minutes between the city center and the airport.
